This morning brought a wonderful surprise. We woke up to discover not one, but two newspaper articles celebrating our latest achievement. Both articles highlighted our place as Enterprise Vision Awards finalists and it totally made our day.
Our Suffolk family brownie bakery has reached the finals of the Enterprise Vision Awards in the Family Business category. Seeing our business featured in the press felt incredibly special, we had no idea it was happening!
The last few years have challenged businesses across the food industry. Our family bakery faced rising costs at almost every turn. Cocoa prices alone increased by an astonishing 400%, while ingredient and packaging costs climbed steadily alongside them.
Running a family business creates unique rewards, but it also brings unique challenges. We work together, solve problems together and navigate tough times together.
We originally launched our business because we wanted to raise our children together while building something special. We wanted flexibility around family life and we wanted to create a business that reflected our values.
Over the years, almost every member of our immediate family has contributed to our growth. Each person has played an important role in helping our bakery become what it is today.
Bean Daddy’s mother created the original recipe that inspired our signature brownies. We adapted her recipe and developed the products our customers know and love. Today, she still works alongside us in the bakery and continues to play a vital role in the business.
She bakes regularly, helps with weekly deliveries alongside Grandpa Bean and provides honest feedback on every new product. Her baking skills remain second to none and we still seek her approval before launching anything new.
Reaching the finals of the Enterprise Vision Awards feels like recognition for every family member who has supported this journey. From early mornings to late nights, everyone has contributed something valuable to our success.
Now we cannot wait for the glamorous awards ceremony in Blackpool later this year. I fully intend to embrace the occasion with a spectacular sequinned gown and an equally fabulous feather boa.
Naturally, I will keep everyone updated on my wardrobe decisions. For now, we simply want to celebrate this incredible milestone and thank everyone who has supported our Suffolk family brownie bakery along the way. Reaching the EVA finals represents a huge honour, and we feel genuinely excited about what comes next.
