Why Provenance Matters for our Brownies

At BATB HQ, we are buzzing with excitement. We have been filming for a brand-new prime-time ITV1 show about small business. The show airs in October, and we cannot wait to share more details. Until then, we want to talk about one key lesson: provenance.

Provenance at the heart of our brownies

Provenance sits at the centre of our baking. It fuels creativity, drives quality, and defines the taste of our signature brownies. Every ingredient tells a story, and our brownies showcase the best of East Anglia produce.

🄚 Our eggs come from Havensfield in Hoxne, just a few miles away.
🌾 We bake with flour made from East Anglian wheat.
šŸ¤ Our sugar comes from local sugar beet, produced in Bury St Edmunds, only 14 miles from us.
šŸ« Our chocolate comes from Luker, an ethical and sustainable producer.

Seasonal Ingredients for our brownies

Summer brings a burst of flavour to our kitchen. Our youngest team members (our kids) spend holidays foraging for ingredients. Supporters, friends and neighbours share surplus fruit from allotments, which we turn into jams, sauces, and caramels. These add so much flavour to our seasonal brownies, making them truly special.

Local brownies that celebrate community

East Anglia gives us a rich bounty of produce. Every brownie reflects this connection to land and community. When you bite into our brownies, you taste more than chocolate, you taste a piece of East Anglia’s story.

Why we never compromise on quality

The baking industry has faced tough challenges with rising costs. Many businesses have cut corners. We never will. We remain committed to provenance, honesty, and excellence. That is why our handmade brownies taste so special.
