🥹Got another weepy one for ya…

Back in the pandemic I’d suddenly gone from maternity leave to working 20 hours a day 7 days a week delivering brownies. I thought it would be best to make the most of my time, so I started listening to podcasts whilst driving. My best mate and Bean Daddy recommended Conversations of Inspiration by Holly Tucker and I was immediately hooked.

Having shut down our mobile cafe at the time, our finances were in dire states and our dreams were in tatters. Listening to Conversations of Inspiration really did feel like I had a buddy, guiding me along a very uncharted path.

I was fascinated by the start-up stories and the determination that people had. It gave me hope at a time where I longed to rewind the clock on this horrible ordeal.

We’ve never had delusions of grandeur to be the biggest brand in the world. Our business was born out of a need to create employment for ourselves that enabled us to raise our children together and be present. In doing so, we wanted to work with people we love, doing a job we love and we definitely found that!

It’s not all cupcakes and rainbows sadly…

This all sounds very idyllic, but the reality is; the pressure of small business is enormous. I always say that it’s filled with the highest highs and lowest lows. In order to be able to navigate your way out of these pressures, we found that you need to scale the business to a certain extent.

It’s easy to lose your head in the process. We always draw back to our “why” and it helps us to make the right decisions regarding the business.

I’m very big into manifesting and a couple of years ago I did a vision board. Everything I’d put on that board happened, except for one thing, which I removed. I’d dismissed it as “silly” and a bit “too big”. It was being an Ad Break Winner for Holly Tucker’s Conversations of Inspiration. I removed this element from my mood board and kept in some other things such as the disco balls (naturally) and the photos of our kids. It sat on my desk for all this time and I didn’t think much about it until the other day when Holly popped up in my feed. She mentioned that she was on the search for new ad break winners. Immediately I recorded a one minute ad (from the heart) and sent it off.

When the email came in, Bean Daddy thought I’d fallen down the stairs because I was screaming so loud. Having this opportunity to tell Holly’s audience what we love about our business is a dream come true and we are so thankful 🙏🏾.

Wow, what a 12 months this has turned out to be… Thank you so much for continuing to support or small business on this crazy journey 🫶🏾.
