We’ve only gone and sold out of the Christmas Cakes by post! Yes, in November. Pinch me now!
Earlier on this year we were approached by our local food hall to see if we’d consider making Christmas Cake. Luke and I discussed it back and forth for a very long time and decided it wasn’t for us. We just didn’t think it was the sort of thing our customers would like. BOY were we wrong!
In the summer, we put the Christmas Cake on the website as a pre-order and orders starting flying in. At the same time, we received lots of corporate orders and lots of interest from our retail customers! It blew our mind to see the response from our customers. So many of you LOVE Christmas Cake. I think the best thing was that it came in a small portion, so it didn’t matter if the rest of the family liked it, you could still have a treat.
For now, we’ve removed the Christmas Cakes from all of our corporate Christmas hampers and Christmas gift options. Everyone who pre-ordered will get theirs. Looking forward to next year, we could have probably done with baking 3 times the amount that we baked this year.
The Christmas Cake is really special to us because it’s Luke’s family’s secret recipe. We can’t wait to bring you even more of our family recipes in the future.
